New Horizons in Medical Education: Bukhara Medical Institute Signs Agreements with Azerbaijani Universities
Currently, the First Forum of Rectors of Higher Education Institutions of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan is underway in the city of Andijan. This prestigious and promising event serves as a vital platform for enhancing cooperation in education between the two countries, expanding academic exchanges, and sharing experiences in modern scientific fields.

Within the framework of the forum, representatives of higher education institutions from Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan are exchanging ideas and reaching important agreements on modern educational trends, scientific research, and innovative projects. The event plays a significant role in strengthening strategic cooperation between higher educational institutions.
At the forum, Professor Shuhrat Teshaev, Rector of the Abu Ali ibn Sino Bukhara State Medical Institute, delivered a speech addressing the development of the field, international integration, and increasing scientific potential. He also signed memorandums of cooperation with two leading universities in Azerbaijan.


During the meeting, Rector of Baku State University Elchin Babaev presented the university’s history, medical research achievements, and the activities of the specialized Department of Biomedical Materials. A memorandum of cooperation was signed between Bukhara State Medical Institute and Baku State University to develop joint scientific research in the field of genetics.

The parties also agreed on plans for cooperation in the following priority areas:
- Conducting joint scientific research in the fields of genetics, anatomy, and morphology;
- Assigning mutual reviewers and opponents in academic councils;
- Implementing collaborative scientific research and innovative projects;
- Enhancing student and faculty exchange programs;
- Organizing summer school programs with partner universities;
- Sharing experience and developing qualification courses and research projects with universities that do not have medical faculties, particularly in medical sciences, biotechnology, pharmacy, and ecology;
- Launching joint dissertation defenses and involving faculty from partner institutions in evaluation processes.
Additionally, an agreement was signed with Nakhchivan University of Azerbaijan to strengthen comprehensive cooperation in the future.
This forum marks another important step in deepening educational and scientific ties between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan. It opens new doors for expanding international cooperation, training high-quality specialists, and enhancing scientific potential.
