Abstract
Anemia is a common pathology in elderly patients that significantly affects quality of life. The aim of our study is to evaluate the age-related clinical and laboratory features of anemia in individuals aged 60–74 and 75 years and older. The study included 60 patients with anemia divided into two age groups. A comprehensive set of laboratory tests was performed: complete blood count, iron, ferritin, vitamin B12, C reactive protein, and others. Significant differences in types and severity of anemia between groups were identified, emphasizing the need for an individualized approach to diagnosis and therapy. The study results may be useful for clinical practice of geriatricians and laboratory specialists.
