We cannot completely eliminate all errors, but we can build a system in which, even if an error occurs, it will not lead to a serious disaster. In this regard, at the Bukhara State Medical Institute named after Abu Ali ibn Sina, occupational safety and security issues have always been a constant focus.
The institute’s Civil and Occupational Safety Department was established on the basis of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. 839 “On Occupational Safety” dated May 6, 1993. It began its work in 2013 with a position of First-Category Engineer and, since February 12, 2020, has been functioning as an independent structural unit. Today, the department operates under the supervision of the institute’s Vice-Rector for Finance and Economics.
Safety is More Than Just Instructions
Occupational safety is not only about laws, manuals, and protective equipment. It is a system of ongoing analysis, improvement, and consistent efforts to prevent risks and hazards. Therefore, at the institute, special attention is paid to developing a culture of occupational safety, creating comfortable working conditions for employees, and conducting large-scale awareness activities to prevent injuries and occupational diseases.
Training sessions on civil protection, fire safety, and technical safety conducted at the institute are aimed not only at providing theoretical knowledge but also at developing systematic thinking, understanding the importance of each layer of protection, and gaining the skills to use them correctly.
Safety of Students and Academic Staff
As in any higher educational institution, lectures and practical classes at the institute are held in specialized rooms and laboratories. Such rooms may contain certain hazardous and harmful production factors that can affect not only students but also teachers conducting laboratory sessions. Therefore, compliance with occupational safety requirements in the educational process is one of the institute’s main tasks.
The Purpose of Occupational Safety
Occupational safety is a system of socio-economic, organizational-technical, sanitary-hygienic, therapeutic-preventive, rehabilitation, and psycho-physiological measures carried out on the basis of relevant laws and regulations, aimed at ensuring safety, preserving health, and maintaining the working capacity of individuals during the labor process.
The work carried out at the institute in this area plays an important role in fostering a systematic approach and a responsible work culture.
