Abstract

The article is devoted to an important problem in the field of pediatrics and neurology - complex diagnosis of sleep disorders in children. It discusses in detail the clinical manifestations of sleep disorders in childhood, including insomnia and parasomnia, with emphasis on obstructive sleep apnea syndrome as a risk factor for somatic and psychopathologic diseases. Modern approaches to instrumental diagnosis, including polysomnography, are updated, and the most important recent sci-entific developments in the field of clinical pediatric sleep medicine are summarized. The necessity of using timely international classification for diagnosis is emphasized, taking into account the neuro-physiological mechanisms of their occurrence, as well as the diversity of clinical manifestations, which, in turn, contributes to improving the effectiveness of treatment and improving the quality of life of children.
