Today, the Bukhara State Medical Institute named after Abu Ali Ibn Sina welcomed a world-renowned scientist and Nobel Prize laureate, Professor Dr. Rik Leemans.
Professor Rik Leemans, from Wageningen University and Research Center (Netherlands), is a leading expert in environmental system analysis. He has carried out large-scale scientific projects on global sustainability and climate change, engaging young researchers from developing countries in active research work.



He is one of the contributors to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007.
Professor Leemans’s scientific work is highly regarded in the fields of climate change studies, ecosystem protection, and assessing human impact on nature.


During his visit, he was accompanied by Professor Baogal from Qingdao University. The guests were received by the Institute’s rector, Professor Shuhrat Teshaev, and Vice-Rector Laziz Niyazov. The delegation also toured the Institute’s modern laboratories and scientific-innovative facilities.
Professor Leemans is also scheduled to deliver lectures for students and researchers on climate change and sustainable environmental development.
