A Seminar on the Cultivation and Application of Medicinal Plants Held in Bukhara

A significant seminar on the cultivation, processing, and medical application of medicinal plants was held at the Bukhara State Medical Institute. The event was organized within the framework of implementing the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated May 20, 2022, “On measures for the cultural cultivation, processing, and widespread use of medicinal plants in treatment.”

The seminar was initiated by the institute in collaboration with the regional Department of Agriculture. It brought together representatives of pharmaceutical companies, students, scientists, agricultural specialists, and professionals from related fields.

Uzbekistan places great emphasis on the development of traditional medicine, the scientific cultivation of medicinal plants, and their effective use. The main goal of this decree is to establish the industrial-scale production of medicinal plants based on scientific research, expand their application in the economy, and increase the production volume of medicinal products.

Over the past five years, Bukhara State Medical Institute has been training specialists in the field of traditional medicine at the undergraduate level. Currently, the institute cultivates more than 50 types of medicinal plants, which are successfully used in medical practice. This provides specialists with valuable practical experience and opportunities for scientific research.

During the seminar, participants exchanged views on developing traditional medicine, producing medicinal preparations from plants, and their effective use in healthcare.

The rector of the institute, Shuhrat Teshayev, and the head of the regional Department of Agriculture, Askar Javodov, provided attendees with insights into the implementation of the decree and the ongoing efforts to advance traditional medicine. Representatives from the pharmaceutical sector shared their experiences and proposed practical measures to enhance the economic significance of medicinal plants.

Such events play a crucial role in the effective utilization of medicinal plants, advancing scientific research, and popularizing traditional medicine.
