​Bukhara State Medical Institute has recorded another high achievement in the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2026 international environmental sustainability ranking. According to the new ranking results, Bukhara State Medical Institute ranked 584th among world universities.
​A total of 2,016 higher education institutions from 110 countries participated in the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2026 results. This ranking evaluates the activities of higher education institutions in implementing the principles of sustainable development, environmental management, and “green campus.”

​Bukhara State Medical Institute rose from 725th place in 2025 to 584th place in 2026. Thus, the institute climbed 141 positions in the international ranking within one year. Positive dynamics were also observed in terms of total scores: from 6,125 points in 2025 to 6,750 points in 2026, increasing by 625 points overall.
​Additionally, according to the 2026 results, Bukhara State Medical Institute secured 15th place in Uzbekistan and 339th place among Asian universities.

​According to the main criteria of the ranking, the institute’s indicators were formed as follows:

​▻Setting and Infrastructure — 675 points;
​​▻Energy and Climate Change — 1,450 points;
​​▻Waste — 700 points;
​​▻Water — 625 points;
​​▻Transportation — 1,325 points;
​​▻Education — 1,087.5 points;
​​▻Governance and Digitalization — 887.5 points.

​In the 2026 ranking, “Governance and Digitalization” — management and digitalization — was also introduced as a separate metric in the UI GreenMetric evaluation system. Thus, the ranking covered the evaluation of sustainable campuses not only in terms of environmental infrastructure and resource usage, but also from the perspective of institutional governance and digitalization.
​The overall result of the institute for 2026 amounted to 6,750 points, demonstrating that the work being carried out at BSMI regarding energy efficiency, environmental infrastructure, rational resource management, sustainable transportation, educational and scientific activities, as well as the development of modern governance mechanisms, is reflected in the international ranking.
​As a reminder, in 2025, Bukhara State Medical Institute ranked 725th among 1,745 universities in the UI GreenMetric ranking. In 2026, the institute rose to 584th place, further improving its performance on the international stage.

​Today, Bukhara State Medical Institute pays special attention to developing “Green University” principles, utilizing renewable energy sources, increasing energy efficiency, effectively managing water and waste, enhancing environmental culture, and integrating sustainable development principles into educational and research processes.
​In the future, the institute aims to expand practical projects on environmental sustainability, green infrastructure, digital management, and effective resource utilization, as well as to further improve its results in international rankings.
