Combating Drug Addiction

At the Abu Ali ibn Sino Bukhara State Medical Institute, regular training sessions, seminars, and lectures are held for students and faculty members to raise awareness about the harmful consequences of drug addiction.

These activities aim to enhance knowledge and understanding of drug-related risks. Drug use can lead to numerous physical health issues, including liver and kidney diseases, as well as disorders of the cardiovascular and respiratory systems. Additionally, drug abuse often contributes to the spread of infectious diseases such as HIV and hepatitis, especially through the sharing of contaminated needles. Mental health disorders such as depression, anxiety, and psychosis are also common consequences of substance abuse.

The institute’s psychologists have developed support and prevention programs to improve students’ emotional and psychological well-being. The university administration also organizes various cultural, sports, and arts events to help students spend their free time productively—an approach recognized as one of the most effective in preventing drug abuse. Through these awareness campaigns, physical activities, and prevention programs, the institute continues to implement measures aimed at protecting young people from the dangers of drug addiction and promoting a healthy lifestyle.
