International Medical Olympiad Held in Bukhara
On May 21, 2025, the V International Medical Olympiad titled “From the Teachings of Abu Ali ibn Sina — to the Third RENAISSANCE” was held at Bukhara State Medical Institute. This prestigious and now traditional scientific-intellectual competition brought together nearly 500 talented students from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan.

A distinctive feature of this year’s Olympiad was that, for the first time, students from not only public but also non-governmental higher education institutions participated. The Olympiad was organized in 43 fields of medicine, where participants demonstrated their knowledge through theoretical and practical tests.

The main goal of the competition is to instill the legacy of the great physician and thinker Ibn Sina in the minds of the younger generation, to promote his teachings in harmony with modern medical advances, and to foster healthy competition and international collaboration among young specialists.

The event concluded with a gala concert and an award ceremony held at the theater located within the historic “Ancient and Eternal Bukhara” complex. Winners were awarded certificates, commemorative gifts, and incentive prizes in various categories.

This international initiative serves to improve the quality of medical education, identify gifted youth, strengthen academic cooperation, and support the development of future successful medical professionals.
