Representatives of a prestigious Saint Petersburg university visited the Institute

From November 23 to 25, a group of highly qualified specialists from the Saint Petersburg National Research University of Information Technologies, Mechanics and Optics (ITMO) visited Bukhara State Medical Institute.
The delegation was received by the Institute’s Vice-Rector for International Cooperation, Laziz Niyazov. The guests highly appreciated the institute’s infrastructure, research potential and the conditions created there.

The delegation included leading specialists such as Darya Denisova, Director of the Scientific Communications Center and Head of Master’s Studies at ITMO; endocrinologist Evgeniya Sokolova, Chief Physician of the Fomin Clinic and Head of the “Public Health Sciences” program; program curator Valentina Blashchuk; Deputy Director of the Scientific Communications Center Yuliya Volzhina; and Ilya Kuftyrev, Director of the University’s Ranking Research Center.

ITMO University — ranked among the top 40 universities in Eastern Europe and Central Asia (QS EECA) and among the top 100 universities in the THE ranking — is well known for its advanced initiatives in scientific communications and public health. The “Public Health Sciences” master’s program trains specialists who make evidence-based decisions in health care.

During the visit, the parties discussed introducing information technologies into medicine, cooperation in endocrinology, organizing short-term internships, conducting joint scientific research, and expanding collaboration in medical and chemical disciplines.

They also exchanged views on opportunities for Bukhara State Medical Institute faculty to receive training at ITMO, short-term teaching stays by professors, joint supervision of master’s programs, and co-supervision/defense of scientific works.
The guests were also received by the Institute’s Rector, Shuhrat Teshayev, who discussed future cooperation plans, joint projects and new initiatives in detail.

This visit served to elevate bilateral scientific and practical cooperation to a new level.
