REPRESENTATIVES OF UNIVERSITY OF LÜBECK CLINIC VISIT BUKHARA STATE MEDICAL INSTITUTE

Surgical specialists from the clinic of the University of Lübeck (Universität zu Lübeck), Federal Republic of Germany, visited Bukhara State Medical Institute.
The guests were welcomed by the Rector of the Institute, Professor Shukhrat Teshayev, alongside Vice-Rectors, for talks on the current state and future prospects of bilateral cooperation.
During the visit, the foreign specialists toured the institute’s museum, the Information Resource Center, and the Folk Medicine Laboratory. The delegation was briefed on the institute’s educational and scientific potential, international partnerships, and opportunities created for students and young medical professionals.

Cooperation between Bukhara State Medical Institute and the University of Lübeck, Germany, was established in 2025 and continues to develop systematically across education, research, and clinical practice.
Earlier this year, from August 10 to 14, two faculty members and two students from the University of Lübeck visited the institute under an academic mobility program to discuss plans for joint lectures, practical training, and surgical procedures.
During their visit on September 24–25, University of Lübeck surgical experts — Tobias Keck (Tobias Keck), Ulrich Friedrich Wellner (Ulrich Friedrich Wellner), and Hryhoriy Lapshyn (Hryhoriy Lapshyn) — are scheduled to perform joint surgical operations, share clinical expertise, and conduct lectures and practical workshops for undergraduate students, master’s candidates, and clinical residents.

In particular, Tobias Keck serves as Director of the Clinic for General, Visceral, Thoracic, Vascular, and Transplantation Surgery at the University Medical Center Schleswig-Holstein, Lübeck Campus (Universitätsklinikum Schleswig-Holstein, Campus Lübeck / Klinik für Allgemein-, Viszeral-, Thorax-, Gefäß- und Transplantationschirurgie).
Furthermore, in recognition of their contributions to advancing bilateral cooperation, pursuant to the decision of the Institute Council, Tobias Keck and Ulrich Friedrich Wellner were awarded the title of “Honorary Professor” of Bukhara State Medical Institute.

This visit serves to further solidify cooperation between the two academic and medical institutions, promote the adoption of international best practices, and expand the exchange of knowledge and skills in modern surgical practice.
