Experts from the University of Eastern Finland (UEF) and the Natural Resources Institute Finland (LUKE) — Ms. Roseanna Avento and Ms. Annika Männikkö — shared their scientific knowledge and expertise.

Food Security, Public Health, and Gender Equality
UEF’s International Development Manager, Ms. Roseanna Avento, delivered a lecture on the use of digital models in ensuring food security, gender equality in education, and public health. She also discussed strategic approaches to nutritional safety and projects aimed at empowering women.

Ms. Annika Männikkö, a LUKE researcher and doctoral student at the University of Helsinki, presented her genomic research on the climate adaptation mechanisms of local livestock breeds. Her expertise in bioinformatics, genomics, and transcriptomics opened new research directions for BSMI scholars.

During the meeting, the parties agreed to cooperate in the following areas:
Joint research and education programs in food security;
Academic mobility opportunities for students and researchers;
Development of training modules in bioinformatics and genomics;
Creation of digital learning platforms for Gender Studies and Community Health.
The visit represents an important step in strengthening BSMI’s international scientific cooperation. The exchange of knowledge will contribute to advancing science and education at the institute.
Participants included BSMI’s Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Prof. Gavhar Jarlikasinova, Head of International Relations Olima Vohidova, department heads, and leading researchers.
