Bukhara State Medical Institute named after Abu Ali Ibn Sina was established in 1990. Since then, it has been operating in adapted buildings. This fact alone indicated the great need of the higher education institution for a modern facility.
In connection with the visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Bukhara region on March 10-11, 2017, an important step towards the solution of this issue was taken. A full medical campus will be built for the institute, and special projects have been developed. The fact that the chosen place is close to a number of medical hospitals in the region helps students to carry out theory and practice in harmony.

The construction of a large facility designed in accordance with the order of the Ministry of Health of the Republic is coming to an end today. The campus consists of a four-story comfortable dormitory, six-storey educational buildings, a simulation center, a polyclinic, a gym, a kitchen serving 500 customers at a time, and other facilities. 11 billion sums were spent on the construction of a single simulation center. It is equipped with modern medical equipment. It is planned to put the medical campus into use in the coming months.


For the new campus of the Bukhara State Medical Institute named after Abu Ali Ibn Sina, an area of 10.5 hectares was allocated from the Mokhi Khossa community gathering on Gijduvan Street in Bukhara, of which 4.3 hectares have been under construction for three years. is being built and equipped with the necessary inventory.

This campus, which has a modern and magnificent appearance, was built on the basis of the order of the engineering company “Tibbiyot Qurilish” under the Ministry of Health of the Republic and the “47 Inter-Farm Mobile Mechanized Column” team, which showed enthusiasm in the constructions, is considered a contractor. 219 billion 800 million sums worth of investment funds were allocated to this comprehensive project, and 12 high-rise buildings were built on the territory of the institute.
Including a spacious and bright educational building with 900 beds, as well as a clinic building with 200 beds and a simulation training clinical center, as well as 3 student residences with 1,200 beds, for which standard requirements the building of a sports hall, in addition, a 300-seat student canteen and a vivarium building form a whole complex.


In order to medically equip the clinic, which is expected to cover such important areas as cardiosurgery, neurosurgery, transplantology, ECO center, traumatology, neurology, ENT and general surgery, 50 billion sums have been allocated from the extra budget of the university. is important for the efficiency of its activity, of course, – says the rector of the Bukhara State Medical Institute, doctor of medical sciences, professor Teshayev Shuhrat Jumayevich. 1 billion 100 million sums have been invested, and modern solar panels have been installed in return, which means another opportunity.

At the moment, treatment, dentistry, pediatrics, medical pedagogy and higher nursing, medical prevention, medical biology and folk medicine, pharmacy department, international faculty, medical faculties of Turkey are operating in the higher education institution. The number of admission quotas for local and foreign students in majors is regularly increased due to the opportunities and facilities created in this magnificent campus, as well as the international educational standards being introduced. This is evidenced by the fact that 480 students are currently studying at the Turkish Medical Faculty of the Turkish University of Health Sciences, one of the leading foreign universities in the world.
Currently, the Bukhara State Medical Institute has 8 faculties and a total of 42 departments, 12 bachelor’s degrees and 24 master’s degrees. In order to train qualified specialists in the medical field of the national economy, to improve the quality of medical services provided to the population, 2 new faculties, 3 departments, 1 bachelor’s degree and 6 master’s degrees will be opened from the next academic year.

In this place, a total of 7,200 students are studying at the Bukhara State Medical Institute named after Abu Ali Ibn Sina this academic year, of which 900 are foreign students. It is expected to increase in the future. For example, in 2024, it is planned to increase the number of students of the institute to 10,000, including 2,500 foreign students. In the next three years, i.e. by 2026, it is planned to increase the number of young talents to 15,000, and the number of foreign students to 5,000.

In addition, in 2021, 600 young talented people from India, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, the Russian Federation and other countries will be studying at this institute. This indicator is gradually increasing year by year. One of the works being carried out in the field of international educational relations is the opening of a branch of the Bukhara State Medical Institute on the basis of the international Noida University in the Republic of India, and the number of foreign students of the institute is also increasing.

At this point, it should be noted that by 2026, the budget of the institute will receive 20 million US dollars per year from the educational contracts of foreign students. At the same time, in the course of developing cooperative relations within the framework of mutual scientific-practical educational programs with prestigious higher education institutions of countries such as the USA, Turkey, India, South Korea, Poland, the Russian Federation, Jordan, the Uzbek, especially the Bukhara Measures are being developed to organize future doctors’ studies, doctorate studies and other scientific researches in these countries. Efforts have been made to develop joint educational programs with leading foreign universities in medicine in areas such as nanotechnology, digital medicine, biology: bioengineering technologies, biochemistry (genetics in medicine).

When the time comes, it is worth noting that in the modern buildings and facilities of the new campus of the Bukhara State Medical Institute, in cooperation with local and foreign experts, more than 15,000 high-tech surgical operations are being created in 2023-2026. This means that now dozens, maybe even hundreds of sick citizens will be prevented from traveling between cities, spending their time and money, and being unnecessarily busy. At the same time, of course, there are currently about 500 pedagogues-specialists working at the university, and now, as their ranks expand, attention will be paid to the potential of personnel. Special impartial and fair principles are used in their selection and placement.

In conclusion, the campus of the Bukhara State Medical Institute named after Abu Ali Ibn Sina is a large complex of urgent importance in meeting the demands and needs of the population for high-quality and fast medical services, as well as producing medical specialists with thorough knowledge and mature potential in our country – the true heirs of Ibn Sina’s genius.
