History of the department

The department was established on the basis of the order No. 4\7 of October 30, 1990, issued by the first rector of the Bukhara State Medical Institute named after Abu Ali Ibn Sina, Professor A.I. Mo’minov. Associate Professor Ato Boltaevich Boltaev, who worked at the Bukhara Pedagogical Institute at that time, was appointed the head of the department.

The department began its activity on September 2 of the 1991-1992 academic year with the following composition.

A.B. Boltaev – head of the department, Sh.H. Gulomova – associate professor of the department,  B.O. Komilova – assistant of the department.

 Boltaev Ato Boltaevich is in the process of scientific research in the neurophysiological laboratory.

 in 1992, associate professor Sh.H. Gulomova was appointed as the head of the department. The number of professors working in the department has reached 8.

 In October 1993, at the suggestion of the rector of the institute, R.A. Usmonova, assistant professor of technical sciences, was invited to the department and appointed as the head of the department. R.A. Usmonova worked as the head of the department until 1993-2005.

 The appointment of R.A. Usmonova as the new head of the department caused new pages to be opened in the history of the department. This period was a period of fruitful achievements in the scientific activity of the department. Defense of 6 candidates was carried out in the department, great attention was also paid to educational work, and the department was enriched with equipment necessary for conducting experiments. In 1999, several students participated in the republican science Olympiads held in Andijan and won honorable places.

 In 2005, the Department of Physiology was merged with the Department of Pathological Physiology, it was called the “Department of Physiology and Pathological Physiology”, and B.B. Hasanov, Ph.D., was appointed as the head of the department.

   From 2006 to 2012, U.R. To’raev worked as the head of the department. During this time, more than 40 multimedia were created and a number of scientific articles were published. Also, F.R. Karimova defended the doctoral thesis. 

 During 2012-2015, I.Sh. Sodikov, Ph.D., was appointed as the head of the department. During this time, multimedia was created and a number of scientific articles were published.

In 2015, the Department of Physiology and Pathological Physiology joined the Department of Pharmacology, and O.M. Ernazarov, candidate of medical sciences, was appointed as the head of the department.

  In 2017, the Department of Physiology and Pathological Physiology became a separate department and I.Sh Sodikov, Ph.D., was appointed as the head of the department.

 In September 2017, the senior teacher of the department, D.A. Ochilova, won the republican stage of the competition “The best pedagogue” of the higher educational institution.

Also, the senior teacher of the department, M.A. Abdullaeva, Sh.Sh. Shadieva, completed the candidacy thesis and received the PhD degree. In September 2019, the Department of Physiology and Pathological Physiology was separated from each other and named separately as the Department of “Physiology” and the student of R.A. Usmonova, associate professor, D.A. Ochilova was appointed as the head of the department. All young researchers were invited to the department. the number of employees has increased to 10. From 2021, PhD Sh.Sh. Shadiyeva was appointed as the head of the department. The number of employees is 12, of which two are candidates of science and one is an associate professor.

Currently, the department is equipped with 3 monographs, 1 textbook, more than 15 training manuals, more than 50 multimedia and several laboratory equipments.

In April 2022, Yakshammuradov Ulugbek Rustamovich won a grand prize from the “Hope of El-Yurt” fund and went to Japan to study for a doctorate in surgery. 3 employees of our department have IELTS and CEFR certificates. 6 employees of the department are considered independent researchers of our institute.

Spiritual and educational work

During the academic year, the department conducts spiritual and educational work aimed at the formation and development of an independent worldview based on the synthesis of the great historical heritage of our ancestors and modern thinking; education of true patriots of their homeland; the formation of highly qualified specialists who value such qualities as humanism, kindness, purity and honesty, loving and respectful parents, the older generation.

The priority direction of all activities of the institute, including our department, is the implementation of the five important initiatives put forward by the head of our state to organize social, spiritual and educational work according to the new system.

Educational and methodological works

The department conducts lectures and practical classes in physiology for first- and second-year students of medical, dental, medical-pedagogical, medical-biological, medical-preventive, and traditional medicine

The educational process at the department is conducted in Uzbek, Russian and English.
