History of the department

By the order of the rector of the Bukhara State Medical Institute named after Abu Ali ibn Sino dated October 30, 1990 No. 4, § 7 at the bacteriological laboratory of the Bukhara Regional Center for Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance, the Department of Microbiology, Virology and Immunology was organized and equipped.

In 1990-1991, the department was headed by the candidate of biological sciences, Khomidova S.Kh. During this period, the head of the department and 3 assistants worked at the department. From 1991 to 2009, the department was headed by Doctor of Veterinary Sciences, Professor Kamolov Muzaffar Bakoevich. In 1997, by order of the rector of the institute, the course of epidemiology was combined with the department of microbiology, and the department was renamed the department of “Microbiology, Virology, Immunology and Epidemiology”. On June 26, 2004, the department was transferred to the base of the city center of state sanitary and epidemiological surveillance.

At that time, 1 professor, 3 candidates of sciences, 2 associate professors worked at the department. In 1998 Mansurova Malika Khasanovna defended her thesis at the Tashkent NIIEMIZ (14.00.30) in the specialty “Epidemiological features of pig brucellosis”, in 2006 Atoeva Mashhura Abrorovna defended her thesis on the topic: “The modern epidemic situation with typhoid fever.”

Methodical manuals and developments were written on the topic: “Microbiological diagnosis of streptococci and staphylococci as causative agents of purulent inflammation” (Ph.D., associate professor Khomidova Saodat Khikmatovna), doctor of veterinary sciences, professor Kamolov M.B. “Etiology of viral hepatitis and their laboratory diagnosis”, candidate of medical sciences, associate professor Mansurova M.Kh. “Characteristics of especially dangerous infectious agents”, “Serological reactions of antigens and antibodies”, candidate of medical sciences, senior lecturer Atoeva Mashhura Abrorovna published a training manual “Fundamentals of immunoprophylaxis”.

In the 2009-2012 academic year, the department was headed by Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Mansurova M.Kh. 4 associate professors, 1 candidate of veterinary sciences, senior teacher, 2 assistants worked at the department. In previous years, professors and teachers published several teaching aids. In particular, the candidate of medical sciences, associate professor M.Kh. Mansurova published an educational and methodological development on the topics:

“Infections transmitted by airborne droplets: pneumococcus, meningococcus, Klebsiella, Legionella, laboratory diagnostics of the diseases they cause”, “Interactive working games for practical use in microbiology, virology and immunology”, candidate of veterinary sciences, senior lecturer G.U. Sagdullaeva published an educational development “General virology, cultivation of viruses and phages”.

In 2012-2018, the department was headed by the candidate of medical sciences, senior researcher, associate professor Suleymanov Suleyman Fayzullaevich. In 2014, by the decree of the Academic Council and the Rector of the Institute, a course of phthisiology was added to the Department of Microbiology, Virology and Immunology, then the department was renamed into the Department of Microbiology, Virology, Immunology and Phthisiology.

At the department worked 4 associate professors, 1 candidate of sciences, senior teacher and 2 assistants, candidate of medical sciences, associate professor Mansurova M.Kh., candidate of veterinary sciences, senior teacher G.U. Sagdullaeva and Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor M.Kh. Mansurov published a textbook “The influence of environmental factors on microorganisms.”

Associate professors Suleymanov S.F., Khomidova S.G. together with associate professor Aliev Sh.R. published the textbook “Laboratory studies in microbiology, virology, immunology”.

In 2018-2019, the department was headed by the candidate of veterinary sciences, senior teacher Sagdullaeva Gulandom Ulyanovna. 4 associate professors, 1 assistant worked at the department.

Since 2019, the department is headed by PhD, Associate Professor Vali Alimovich Ergashev. Currently, the department employs 1 doctor of medical sciences, professor, 4 associate professors and 3 assistants. During this period, the old building in the city center of the SES was completely renovated, and the department was transferred to a new building.

Suvonov K.Zh published the textbook “Bacterial translocation: microbiological aspects”, professor Nuraliev N.A., Ph.D. Almatov B.I. published the monograph “Reservoirs: features of the chemical composition of water, microbiological and hydrobiological aspects”, candidate biological sciences, associate professor Khomidova S.Kh. published several textbooks: “Microbiology, Virology and Immunology”, “Private Microbiology, Virology, Immunology”, “Medical Virology”, Candidate of Medical Sciences Mansurova M.Kh. and senior teacher Sagdullaeva G. U. published a textbook: “General Microbiology.” Khomidova S.Kh., Mustafoeva F.A., Elmuradova published educational and methodological developments: “Etiology of viral hepatitis, their laboratory diagnostics”, “Coronavirus”, “Characteristics of the human immunodeficiency virus and laboratory diagnosis of the disease”.

Within the framework of academic mobility, the department was held by the head of the Department of Microbiology, Microbiology, University of Medicine in the sciences of the Turkish Republic. In addition, the Department of Microbiology, Virology and Immunology of the Bukhara State Medical Institute, within the framework of academic mobility, cooperates with the Department of Microbiology of Ryazan State Medical University (Russia) with the departments of Microbiology and Virology, Immunology of the S. Asfandiyarov National Medical University, established international relations with the Department of Microbiology, Virology and Virology Tajik State Medical University named after Abu Ali Ibni Sino, Microbiology and Virology, Immunology of the Medical University of Astana.

To date, professors and scientists of the department have published articles and abstracts in more than 800 prestigious local and foreign journals (Candidate of Medical Sciences, senior researcher Suleymanov Suleyman Fayzullaevich published 365 scientific papers). The staff of the department took part in international conferences. A number of state scholars named after Abu Ali ibn Sino have also been prepared under the guidance of professors and teachers of the department. Over the years, 11 students have won prizes at the republican Olympiads in microbiology, virology and immunology. Candidate of Medicine, Associate Professor Suleymanov S.F. is a member of the Austrian publishing house “Premier” and the Russian publishing house “Problems of Science”.

Today, the department is located in a separate educational building, has 8 classrooms and one scientific laboratory. The department is equipped and equipped in accordance with modern requirements. The scientific laboratory has all the conditions for scientific research.

The professors and teachers of the department have patents for a number of computer programs. Professors and teachers of the department teach foreign and local students in Uzbek, Russian and English.
