General information

Bukhara State Medical Institute was established in October 1990. In March 1991, by the decision of the Presidium of the Bukhara Regional Council of People’s Deputies, the institute was named after Abu Ali ibn Sino.

Key historical developments:

  • 1991 – Faculty of Medicine established

  • 1992 – Faculty of Dentistry established

  • 1999 – Department of Highly Qualified Nurses opened

  • 2001 – Department of Medical Pedagogy launched

  • 2016 – Department of Pediatrics created

  • 2018 – New directions introduced in Medical Prevention and Medical Biology

Currently, the institute comprises:

  • 4 faculties

  • 53 departments

  • 9 bachelor’s degree programs

  • 30 master’s degree specialties

  • Over 36 clinical residency specialties

  • 20 joint double-degree programs across all levels

The institute has more than 9,180 enrolled students and residents.

Faculty and staff:

  • 648 professors and teaching staff, including:

    • 97 Doctors of Science and Professors

    • 253 PhDs and Associate Professors

    • 100 Senior Lecturers and Assistants

Languages of instruction: Uzbek, Russian, English, and Turkish.
