Upcoming cooperation between the University of Jordan and Bukhara State Medical University in academia, education, and student exchange

Fadia Al-Otaibi — Today, the Vice President of the University of Jordan for Accreditation, International Rankings, and Sustainability, Dr. Faleh Al-Sawaeer, welcomed in his office the Vice Rector for International Cooperation of Bukhara State Medical University (Uzbekistan), Dr. Laziz Niyazov, accompanied by the University’s representative in Arab countries, Abdullah Al-Rawajfeh. The visit aimed to discuss prospects for academic and research cooperation, as well as exchange of expertise between the two universities.

The meeting was also attended by Dr. Huna Taha, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Jordan for Quality, Communication, and International Rankings, and Dr. Sameh Al-Zubaidi, Director of the International Affairs Unit. The discussion focused on potential areas of cooperation in academia, particularly in the medical field: education and training, support for student exchange, academic visits by faculty and researchers, as well as joint research projects of mutual interest.

During the meeting, Dr. Al-Sawaeer welcomed the guest and emphasized the university’s keenness to strengthen its international partnerships with renowned universities around the world, which contributes to improving the quality of higher education and the exchange of knowledge and expertise. He stressed that the visit aligns with the university’s vision of openness to global academic institutions, and expressed appreciation for Bukhara State Medical University’s willingness to build effective partnerships.

For his part, Dr. Niyazov gave a detailed presentation on the establishment of Bukhara State Medical University (founded in 1990) and its status as a prestigious state institution recognized nationally and internationally. He noted that the university provides instruction in Uzbek, Russian, Turkish, and English, and expressed strong interest in developing cooperation with the University of Jordan.

It should be noted that the visit took place within the framework of the signed Memorandum of Understanding between the two sides, aimed at translating agreed cooperation into reality.
