Bukhara State Medical Institute’s International Cooperation: Advancing Education and Science

Establishing partnerships with leading universities worldwide opens new doors for students and faculty, enhancing not only scientific research but also the implementation of innovative educational programs and the training of highly qualified specialists in accordance with international standards.


With this in mind, Abu Ali Ibn Sina Bukhara State Medical Institute is placing special emphasis on expanding its international collaborations and strengthening ties with leading educational institutions worldwide.
Partnership with Lithuania Established.
Recently, Bukhara State Medical Institute (BukhSMI) took another significant step in its international cooperation efforts by establishing ties with one of Lithuania’s leading higher education institutions – Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VILNIUS TECH). This university is one of the most prestigious educational institutions in Lithuania, ranking second after Vilnius University in terms of size and academic excellence.


As part of this collaboration, a delegation led by Professor Romuald Klyukas, Rector of Vilnius Gediminas Technical University and Doctor of Technical Sciences, visited Bukhara. During the meeting, both parties discussed the creation of joint educational programs in the field of Biomedical Engineering, including plans to develop a 1+1 Master’s program.


Memorandum of Understanding Signed.
To formalize this partnership, BukhSMI and Vilnius Gediminas Technical University signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This memorandum aims to enhance international cooperation in education and scientific research, with key objectives including:
- Development of joint educational programs
- Exchange of academic and research materials
- Faculty and researcher exchange programs
- Student exchange opportunities
This agreement will provide BukhSMI students with access to internationally recognized education and will enhance opportunities for faculty members to conduct scientific research and share experiences.
Bukhara State Medical Institute remains committed to further expanding its international cooperation efforts. The partnership with Vilnius Gediminas Technical University is expected to strengthen over time, opening up new opportunities for students and faculty alike.

The Event “My Happiness – I Am the Zulfiya of Uzbeks” Was Held
01.03.2025 2025-03-03 15:29🏛🫥 In the assembly hall of the Abu Ali Ibn Sina Bukhara State Medical Institute, an event dedicated to the birthday of the People’s Poet of Uzbekistan, Zulfiya Isroilova, was held under the title “My Happiness – I Am the Zulfiya of Uzbeks”.


✅ Opening the event, the institute’s rector, Sh. Teshayev, emphasized that Zulfiya reflected the new mindset of her era and the ideas of independence in her works. He also noted that her poetry is distinguished not only by its beauty but also by its profound meaning and deep emotions.


✅ During the event, the institute’s students presented recitations of the poetess’s remarkable poems, performed national dances, and staged theatrical performances.


A Seminar on the Cultivation and Application of Medicinal Plants Held in Bukhara
01.03.2025 2025-03-05 11:42A significant seminar on the cultivation, processing, and medical application of medicinal plants was held at the Bukhara State Medical Institute. The event was organized within the framework of implementing the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated May 20, 2022, “On measures for the cultural cultivation, processing, and widespread use of medicinal plants in treatment.”


The seminar was initiated by the institute in collaboration with the regional Department of Agriculture. It brought together representatives of pharmaceutical companies, students, scientists, agricultural specialists, and professionals from related fields.
Uzbekistan places great emphasis on the development of traditional medicine, the scientific cultivation of medicinal plants, and their effective use. The main goal of this decree is to establish the industrial-scale production of medicinal plants based on scientific research, expand their application in the economy, and increase the production volume of medicinal products.


Over the past five years, Bukhara State Medical Institute has been training specialists in the field of traditional medicine at the undergraduate level. Currently, the institute cultivates more than 50 types of medicinal plants, which are successfully used in medical practice. This provides specialists with valuable practical experience and opportunities for scientific research.
During the seminar, participants exchanged views on developing traditional medicine, producing medicinal preparations from plants, and their effective use in healthcare.
The rector of the institute, Shuhrat Teshayev, and the head of the regional Department of Agriculture, Askar Javodov, provided attendees with insights into the implementation of the decree and the ongoing efforts to advance traditional medicine. Representatives from the pharmaceutical sector shared their experiences and proposed practical measures to enhance the economic significance of medicinal plants.
Such events play a crucial role in the effective utilization of medicinal plants, advancing scientific research, and popularizing traditional medicine.


⚡️ The First Stage of the “Mirzo Ulugbek Heirs” Republican Competition is Starting!

Reminder: In the first stage, the top five project authors from each district (city) will be declared winners and will be awarded an incentive of five times the BHM (Base Calculation Amount) from the local budget funds.
