Medical Chemistry Department was established in 1991 as a “General and Bioorganic Chemistry” department, a Head of the department was M.R. Amonov. At that time, professors and teachers contributed to the organization of the department and the educational process: associate professors Khayrullaev Ch.K., Dzhuraev Yu., Nazarov I.I., assistants Mavlonov Kh.N., Sodikova S.S’h., S’hukurov I.B. ., Mirzametov B.S., Amonova Kh.I. Bozorova S.O., Dzhuraeva S.B., Kholikova R.F. Laboratory assistants: Safarova R., Nuriddinova X., Umurov F.
In 1993, the department was merged with the Department of Biological Chemistry and renamed into the Department of Biological and Bioorganic Chemistry, headed by Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor N.A. Rakhmatov. Author of over 200 scientific papers.
From 1995 to 2002 the department was headed by associate professor Amonov M.R. During his scientific research, he prepared more than 300 scientific articles, scientific and methodological manuals. In 2005, under the guidance of his supervisor Professor O.M. Yoriev, M.R.Amonov successfully defended his doctoral dissertation on specialty 02.00.16 – Chemistry and technology of composite materials on the topic “Water-soluble polymer compositions based on local raw materials for use in the production of cotton fiber and the technology of their production” at a specialized council at the Center for Science and Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
In 2002-2014, the department was headed by Associate Professor I.I. Nazarov, who in 1991 defended his thesis on “Radical polymerization and copolymerization of benzoxazolyl methyl methacrylates and properties of polymers based on them” in specialty 02.00.06. – Chemistry of polymers. In 2002 he was awarded the title of Associate Professor of the Higher Attestation Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Associate professor Nazarov I.I. during his scientific and pedagogical activity has publis’hed more than 180 articles and abstracts in domestic and foreign journals and conferences. Prepared 1 electronic textbook, 1 textbook and 20 manuals.
In 2004, the assistant of the department I.B. S’hukurov defended his dissertation on the topic “Metabolism of glutathione and its processes of peroxidation and detoxification in acute pancreatitis” and received a PhD in biological sciences.
From March 2005 to May 2015 the department was renamed to the Department of Bioinorganic, Bioorganic and Biological Chemistry.
