Negotiations Held on Expanding Cooperation with the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University

As part of an official visit to the People’s Republic of China, representatives of Bukhara State Medical Institute named after Abu Ali ibn Sina held bilateral negotiations with the leadership of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University aimed at further strengthening and expanding cooperation between the two institutions.

As is known, cooperation between Bukhara State Medical Institute and Xi’an Jiaotong University was established in 2024. Since then, a number of promising projects have been implemented in the fields of education, clinical practice, and scientific research. This partnership has elevated relations between the two institutions to a new level, creating broad opportunities for adopting advanced medical practices and enhancing the qualifications of healthcare professionals.

As one of the practical outcomes of this cooperation, a short-term exchange and training program on “Minimally Invasive Endoscopic Technologies” was launched on June 1 of this year. Organized in collaboration with Bukhara State Medical Institute, the program is being attended on a grant basis by 20 medical specialists from various regions of Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of the program, participants take part in 5-day and 1-month practical training courses, gaining advanced knowledge and skills in minimally invasive surgery and modern endoscopic technologies. Notably, 13 of the participants are healthcare professionals currently working in the Bukhara region.

During the negotiations, the parties discussed opportunities to further expand bilateral cooperation, develop new educational and scientific projects, initiate joint research activities, and strengthen collaboration in priority areas of medicine.

At the meeting, Laziz Niyazov, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation of Bukhara State Medical Institute, emphasized the importance of expanding student and faculty exchange programs, organizing summer schools, and creating international scientific platforms for young researchers.

In addition, proposals were presented to develop new areas of cooperation, including joint educational programs, academic mobility initiatives, and scientific internships.
For his part, Zhang Xu Feng, Deputy Director of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University, expressed the hospital’s readiness to implement exchange programs both at the institutional level and within specialized clinical departments. He noted that conducting joint research in key areas of medical science, co-authoring scientific publications and innovative developments, and strengthening clinical experience exchange would be mutually beneficial for both sides.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties emphasized their shared interest in elevating existing cooperation to a new level, introducing advanced practices in medical education and healthcare, and increasing the number of joint projects in the future.

These negotiations marked an important step toward strengthening the strategic partnership between Bukhara State Medical Institute and the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University. The agreements reached will contribute to improving the quality of medical education, adopting international best practices, advancing scientific research, and training highly qualified healthcare professionals.

Furthermore, this cooperation will provide a solid foundation for expanding collaboration between Uzbekistan and China in the fields of medical education and healthcare.
