Cardiology

About the course

Cardiology is a branch of medical science that studies the structure, functions, and diseases of the cardiovascular system, their causes, mechanisms of development, specific course, and diagnosis, and develops methods for their detection, treatment, and prevention. The formation and development of cardiology as an independent science occurred in the 19th and 20th centuries. This is due to the work of Aristotle, Hippocrates, Dioscorides, Galen and Ibn Sina. Knowledge of cardiology began to accumulate after the English physician Harvey described the circulatory system in 1628. In 1761, the Australian physician Auenbrugger discovered a new method of examining internal organs — percussion. In the 19th century, clinical symptoms characteristic of angina pectoris, rheumatism, and heart defects were identified.
