History of the department

The Department of Endocrinology first began its activities in 1993 under the leadership of endocrinologist A.M. Kaylakov and rector of the Bukhara State Medical Institute Muminov Akram Ibrahimovich, A.M. Kaylakov was appointed head of the department. The department was first created in 1993 as part of the clinical base of the Bukhara Regional Hospital (now the Bukhara Regional Multidisciplinary Medical Center). The administration of the institute created all the conditions for students to attend classes; there were lecture halls and classrooms.

In 2001-2008, Candidate of Medical Sciences Sherov Umar Nurulloevich was appointed head of the Department of Endocrinology at the Bukhara State Medical Institute.

Badritdinova Matlyuba Nazhmiddinovna – DSc, Associate Professor

In 1996-2006 she worked as an assistant at the Department of General Practice.

From 2015 to 2023 she worked as head of the Department of Internal Medicine and Endocrinology at the Bukhara State Medical Institute. Currently he works as the head of the Department of Internal Medicine.

On October 25, 2006, she defended her PhD thesis on the topic “Optimization of the diagnosis of extragenital non-infectious diseases in reproductive age.” In 2022, she defended her doctoral dissertation on the scientific topic “Innovative methods of prevention and non-drug treatment of metabolic syndrome.” Doctor of the highest category. Author of 6 monographs, 5 textbooks, more than 30 teaching aids and recommendations. During her scientific and pedagogical activities, she published about 100 scientific articles and theses, 30 of them in prestigious foreign journals.

During her scientific and teaching career, she published about 50 scientific articles and theses, 12 of which were published in prestigious foreign journals.

The department conducts practical and clinical classes on the subject of diabetology and endocrinology for students of the Faculty of Medicine, Medical Pedagogy, Medical Biology and Medical Prevention, Pediatrics, Traditional Medicine, Higher Nursing Faculty of Pediatric Endocrinology, Endocrinological Nursing.

Currently, 1 candidate of sciences, 1 senior teacher, 2 independent researchers, 9 assistants work at the department, contributing to the education of the younger generation.

Today at the department Sh.M. Akhmedova on the topic “Comparative classification of morphological changes in the thymus after brain injuries of varying degrees,” M.A. Rizaeva on the topic “Impaired carbohydrate metabolism during myocardial infarction and the possibilities of hypoglycemic therapy”, Kh.Sh. Yakhyaeva on the topic “Features of morphofunctional and ultrasound anatomy of the thyroid gland in persons who have suffered coronavirus infection,” N.U. Shodieva conducts scientific research on the topic “Features of body composition in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and NAFLD.”

Employees of the department have published more than 150 scientific articles and theses in republican and foreign scientific journals, 80 of them in prestigious foreign journals.

The department has prepared about 10 textbooks, 2 electronic textbooks, 5 monographs, more than 40 teaching aids, 7 EUM program certificates, 7 methodological recommendations in Uzbek and Russian.

The employees of the department have achieved a number of successes during their professional activities. They participate in many grant projects and programs and improve their qualifications at prestigious universities in foreign countries. In particular, in 2019, an assistant from the department, Ph.D., participated in the IHOD project at the University of Pavia, Italy. Badritdinova B.K., in July 2023, assistant of the department A.B. Nazarova interned at the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences under the German SOLID project. Currently, 11 professor-teachers carry out their teaching activities with pride and satisfaction.

The mission of the department: to promote the development of medicine through high-quality education, scientific research and practical training of specialists in the field of endocrinology.

Goals and objectives

Goal 1: Improving the quality of educational programs

Objectives:

Update the curricula in accordance with the latest scientific and clinical achievements.
Introduce interdisciplinary approaches to teaching, integrating new areas of knowledge, such as genetics, molecular biology and modern diagnostic methods.
Develop and implement online learning programs and webinars to increase the availability of educational resources.
Develop a feedback system with students and clinicians to continuously improve the quality of training.

Expected results:

Increase in student and listener satisfaction, improvement of examination results.
Increase in the number of applicants interested in becoming specialists in the field of endocrinology.
Goal 2: Strengthening the scientific potential of the department

Objectives:

Develop scientific research work, encouraging staff and students to publish articles in leading journals.
Organize conferences and scientific symposia dedicated to modern issues in endocrinology.
Attract grant funds to finance research projects.
Strengthen cooperation with international research centers and exchange experience with leading scientists in the field of endocrinology.

Increase in the number of publications in international peer-reviewed journals.
Increase in scientific activity among students and staff.
Obtaining grants for fundamental and applied research.
Goal 3: Development of a clinical base and implementation of advanced technologies

Objectives:

Implementation of new methods of diagnosis and treatment of endocrine diseases, including the use of advanced technologies (e.g. molecular diagnostics and nuclear medicine).
Cooperation with hospitals and clinics to create training bases for students and improve the level of practical training.
Opening of centers at the department for the treatment of complex endocrine pathologies.

Increase in the number of patients undergoing treatment using innovative methods.

4. Monitoring and evaluation of effectiveness

Conduct regular reports on the work done and adjust the strategy if necessary.

This strategy will allow the endocrinology department not only to adapt to modern challenges, but also to strengthen its position at the educational, scientific and clinical levels.                        

Academic mobility

In September 2023, as part of the academic mobility program, a department employee visited universities that occupy leading positions in the top 1000 in the ranking of world higher education institutions. In particular, the head of the department B.K. Badridinova held a seminar at the University of Sog‘liq bilimlari (Türkiye).

In May 2024, the department staff visited the Antalya Research Medical Center (Turkey) as part of the academic mobility program. During the visit, the staff got acquainted with the work and structure of the Endocrinology Department, and also participated in diabetes school seminars, and examined patients as part of the program.

Head of the Department of Endocrinology, PhD Badridinova B.K. held a seminar on the topic of the Paradox of Vitamin D Deficiency at the Antalya Research Medical Center (Turkey). The seminar was dedicated to residents on emergency conditions in pediatrics.

Visit of the delegation of the Bukhara State Medical Institute to the People’s Republic of China headed by the rector Shukhrat Teshayev. We visited the China National Nuclear Corporation and its clinic in Beijing, where we studied the activities of the center and department of nuclear medicine, and jointly discussed the issues of training and advanced training of personnel for the nuclear medicine center in Bukhara.

 

As part of the academic mobility program, from April 17 to 22, 2024, assistant of the endocrinology department, Yakhyoeva Hilola Sharifovna, held a lecture and practical lesson for 5th-year students of the medical faculty of the International Kazakh-Turkish University named after H.A. Yassawi of Kazakhstan.

Research and development work

Currently, the department employs 2 PhD, 4 basic doctoral students, 3 applicants, 8 assistants, who contribute to the education of the younger generation.

Spiritual and educational work.

In March 2024, the Department of Endocrinology and Internal Medicine organized an international scientific and practical conference dedicated to the memory of Professor MD Orziev Zavkiddin Mansurovich “Current problems of internal diseases, a new approach to treatment”, with the participation of professors from Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Turkey.

The teaching staff of the department regularly participate in cultural, educational and sports events. Under the leadership of the head of the department B.K. Badridinova, 4th-year students Sh. At the 78th international scientific and practical conference of students and young scientists of medical universities, which took place in Samarkand on May 17-18, 2024, Master of the Department of Endocrinology Gulyamova Shakhrinozmade a report and was awarded an honorable 2nd place.
