History of the department
The Department of Pediatrics was founded on 07/29/1992 according to the 135 order of the rector of BUKHMI. Professor, corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences I.T.Salomov was appointed the first head of the department.
In 2002, the head of the department was appointed Candidate of Medical Sciences, associate professor Navruzova Shakar Istamovna. Sh.I. Navruzova was born in 1967 in the city of Bukhara. In 1983-89 she studied at the Samarkand Medical Institute. In 1990-91 she completed her residency in pediatrics. In 1995-97, she completed postgraduate studies at the BUKHMI.
In 1998, she defended her PhD thesis on the topic “Peculiarities of the frequency and clinic of respiratory allergies in children living in ecologically unfavorable conditions of Bukhara”.
In 2008, she defended her doctoral dissertation on the topic “Immuno–genetic features of allergies in children living in hot climates”.
Scientific direction of the department: “Development of a set of measures aimed at improving living conditions, family problems and health improvement of children and mothers in the hot climate of Uzbekistan”.
Under the guidance of Professor Sh.I.Navruzova, 3 PhD theses were defended.
In 2018, the basic doctoral student of the department I.K. Saidullayeva defended her PhD thesis on the topic “Clinical, diagnostic and prognostic values of immunoendocrine indicators in congenital heart defects in children”.
In 2020, the basic doctoral student Sh.T.Mukhammedova defended her PhD thesis “Features of cytokine dynamics in newborns with systemic inflammatory response syndrome”.
In 2020, independent applicant D.N. Achilova defended her PhD thesis on the topic “Clinical and immunological aspects and optimization of diagnostic methods for obstructive bronchitis in young children”.
The Department of Pediatrics 2 was established on September 6, 2023 on the basis of the order of the rector of the Institute No. 1-A/372 and the head of the department was appointed Doctor of Philosophy in Medical Sciences (PhD) associate professor Mukhamedova Shakhnoza Tolibovna. Sh.T.Mukhamedova graduated from the Tashkent Pediatric Medical Institute in 2010. In 2013, she completed a master’s degree in Neonatology at the same institute.
In 2020, she successfully completed her dissertation on “Features of cytokine dynamics in the syndrome of systemic inflammatory response of newborns” at the Scientific Council at the BukHMI, on September 28, 2023, she defended her doctoral dissertation on “Gene polymorphism of cytokines in newborns with dysmetabolic nephropathies” and received a PhD degree.
Academic mobility
In order to develop joint scientific and pedagogical activities, the department cooperates with leading foreign universities of the world: California Medical University (USA), St. Petersburg Medical University, Turkistan Medical Institute, Moscow Medical University.
In 2023, Professor Colin Kraft from the California Medical University (USA) and her students held a lecture and a master class for students of the Pediatric Faculty of the Bukhara State Medical Institute, professors and residents of the department and residents of the magitrature as part of the academic mobility program.
In September 2023, the staff of the department, as part of the academic mobility program, were in the UZ, which occupy the leading places in the top 1000 in the ranking of world higher education institutions. In particular, the head of the department, Sh.T. Mukhamedova, conducted a visit to the Turkish University of “Medical Knowledge”, as well as associate professor of the department, D.N.Achilova, taught students of the Kazakh National University named after S.D.Asfendiyarov.
Spiritual and educational works
The teaching staff of the department regularly participate in cultural, educational and sports events. Under the guidance of Associate Professor of the Department D.N. Achilova, 5th year student of the Pediatric Faculty V.H. Urakova became a laureate of the Ibn Sina state scholarship Under the guidance of. The head of the department, Sh.T. Mukhamedova, a 5th-year student of the Pediatric Faculty, D.F.Bakhronova, became a laureate of the Zulfiya State Prize.
