History of the department

The department was founded by order of the Rector of the Bukhara State Medical Institute No. 135 § 3 on 29.07.1992. The first head of the department was appointed a member of the Academy of Natural Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Salomov Inoyat Tagirovich, by order No. 4 / 72 § 3 of 8.07.1992.

Salomov Inoyat Tagirovich

Born in 1939 in the city of Bukhara, Uzbek by nationality.

From 1992 to 2002 he held the position of head of the department. Since 2002, he has been the head of the Department of Propaedeutics of Children’s Diseases of the Samarkand State Medical Institute, he has been working as a leading specialist – pediatric pulmonologist of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Author of more than 350 scientific and methodological works, including textbooks “Children’s diseases”. Under the leadership of Sadomov I.T., 2 doctors and 10 candidates of medical sciences were trained.

Salomov Inoyat Tagirovich died in 2016 in the city of Samarkand.

Shamsutdinov Asror Soliyevich

Born in 1945 in the city of Bukhara, Uzbek by nationality.

In 1981 he defended his PhD thesis in Russia. From 1986 to 2017, he held the position of chief physician of the Bukhara Regional Children’s Multidisciplinary Medical Center. From 2017 to 2018, he held the position of Head of the Department of Pediatrics and Pediatric Surgery. Author of more than 20 scientific papers, 2 textbooks and 1 monograph.

Navruzova Shakar Istamovna

She was born in 1967 in the city of Bukhara, by nationality – Uzbek.

In 1996 she defended her PhD, and in 2008 she defended her doctoral dissertation. Since 2002, he has been the head of the Department of Pediatrics.  From 2009 to 2013, she was the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Pedagogy. In 2017-2018, she held the position of deputy khokim, head of the Women’s Committee of the Bukhara region. In 2009, she was awarded the Order of the II degree “Healthy Generation”, in 2017 with the badge “25th anniversary of the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan”.

Navruzova Sh.I. together with the Bukhara Regional Health Department conducted more than 100 seminars, lectures and master classes for practitioners in order to reduce the incidence of morbidity and mortality among the child population.

Navruzova Sh.I. is the author of more than 156 scientific articles, 3 textbooks, 5 scientific manuals, 7 monographs, 6 patents, 32 methodological recommendations, 2 informational letters and 2 rationalization proposals on topical issues of pediatrics, allergology and immunology. Under the guidance of Navruzova Sh.I., more than 15 scientific doctoral works are being conducted, 4 PhD-doctoral dissertations were successfully defended by her students.

At the time of foundation, the name of the department was “Children’s diseases”.

1998 – 1999 The department has merged with the Pediatric surgery course.

1999-2000. the course of “Pediatric surgery” was separated from the department.

2000 – 2001 The department includes a neonatology course.

2017 – 2018 The department was reunited with the course of pediatric surgery and became known as “Pediatrics and Pediatric Surgery”.

Since 2018, the department has been called “Pediatrics”.

In 2002, Shakar Istamovna Navruzova was appointed head of the department.

In 2017-2018 The position of the head of the department was held by Shamsutdinov Asror Solievich.

Since May 2018 and to this day Navruzova Sh.I. is the head of the Department of Pediatrics.

The purpose, objectives and direction of the department

The purpose of the department is to give students knowledge of childhood diseases, pediatrics and neonatology, family medicine and prepare them for medical practice in solving the problems facing modern medicine and learning the secrets of the medical profession assessment of the condition of healthy and sick children, rational feeding of sick and healthy children,skills to learn how to detect, treat and prevent the diseases they have consists of the formation. The science of childhood diseases, early diagnosis of diseases encountered in pediatric practice, their improve effective treatment methods and teach preventive measures goals.

Employees of the Department of Pediatrics undergo an examination of patients and an in-depth examination in the multidisciplinary central polyclinic of the Olotsk Regional Medical Association Center.

Merits of the department

During the 29-year activity of the department, 10 candidate’s and 1 doctoral dissertation were defended, more than 450 scientific articles were published, 70 teaching aids, 3 textbooks, 8 textbooks, 12 monographs were prepared, about 100 practical implementations, proposals and computer programs were developed.

The teaching staff of the department conducts scientific activities in the following areas:

1) Immuno-biochemical criteria for early neonatal maladaptation of underweight newborns from mothers with preeclampsia;

2) Assessment of critical conditions of newborns from mothers infected with COVID-19;

3) Predictors of the formation of functional gastrointestinal pathologies in children;

4) Clinical and laboratory parameters of atypical pneumonia in children;

5) Clinical features of iron deficiency anemia in puberty girls.

In January 2020, under the guidance of Professor Navruzova Shakar Istamovna, an independent applicant Achilova Donohon Nutfullayevna and a basic doctoral student of the Department of Pediatrics Mukhamedova Shakhnoza Tolibovna defended their PhD doctoral dissertation.

The department holds a monthly problem commission dedicated to the issues of “Motherhood and childhood” under the chairmanship of Sh.I. Navruzova.

The staff of the department conduct medical activities in the polyclinic of the Bukhara District Medical Association, the Department of neonatology of the Bukhara District Maternity Complex and the departments of cardiology, gastrohematology, allergology, pulmonology and neonatology of the BRCMMC by participating in consultations, analyzing case histories and consulting complex clinical situations.

  1. In November 2015, a scientific and practical conference with international participation on the topic “Current problems of maternal and child health” was organized jointly with the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. On the basis of the resolution signed at the conference, the Pediatric Faculty of the Institute was founded.
  2. In November 2018, a scientific and practical conference with international participation was organized on the topic “Current problems of maternal and child health, victories and prospects”. Within the framework of the conference, more than 5 employee organizations were invited and master classes were held for practitioners.

Educational and methodological activities

The department trains students of Pediatric, medical, medical-pedagogical, dental, medical-biological, medical-preventive faculties, as well as foreign students of joint educational programs.  The department trains clinical residents and masters in the specialty “Pediatrics”. Cultural and educational activities

Cultural-educational and spiritual-educational work with students at the department is carried out according to the plan approved by the university administration. The department conducts educational hours with students every Thursday. In order to carry out effective cultural and educational work with students, each employee of the department participates in the preparation of videos, conducts lectures and talks on topics dedicated to the national idea of independence, prosperity of the motherland and healthy lifestyle.

All the spiritual and educational work carried out with students is aimed at the formation of a comprehensively developed personality and independent thinking of young people, a specialist devoted to his profession as a doctor and loving his homeland.
