Abstract

The scientific article is devoted to the actual problem, the organization and availability of psychiatric care to the population. The mental health protection of the citizens of Uzbekistan, the provision of high-quality psychiatric care to the population is an urgent public health problem and is of great socioeconomic importance. The unfavorable dynamics of mental health indicators, confirmed by statistical data, is associated with the impact of stress, social changes (and numerous factors of social trouble). All these factors have acquired the character of chronic stress, contributing to further unfavorable dynamics of mental health. The growth of mental illness, especially of the non-psychotic level, requires abandonment of the traditional policy of isolation of the mentally ill, transition to a bio-psychosocial model of psychiatric service and strengthening preventive work among the general population. As a result of the discovery of new drugs, it became possible to extend the period of remission of patients, which allows to shift the emphasis in the activities of the psychiatric service from inpatient to primary care and medical and social forms of work.
