Abstract

The popularity of energy drinks is growing every year. Regular consumption of energy drinks is one of the most important problems of our time. Energy drinks are drinks designed to cheer up a person and increase his physical or mental performance. They cause a temporary surge of strength and excitement of the nervous system. As of 2018, there are more than 500 trade names of energy drinks in the world, which differ significantly in their composition. Energy drinks are non—alcoholic or low-alcohol highly carbonated drinks containing large amounts of caffeine and other biologically active substances. Currently, schoolchildren, students and ordinary people engaged in mental labor in large numbers use them during a period of special workload at work or in school. There are quite a few reports in the available literature about the harmful effects of energy drinks on the body. This article presents the results of a study of the cellular and tissue structures of the cerebral cortex of 9–month-old rats who consumed energy drinks in the short and long term.
