Abstract
200 students were surveyed to determine their motivation using A. Mehrabian's test. It was found that the number of individuals motivated to achieve success is 4.3 times lower than those motivated to avoid failure. Gender differences are noted: the dominance of the desire for success is twice as high among males as females. Among males, there are no unmotivated students. No gender differences were observed in motivation to avoid failure.
